Mia Our Rescue Dog

This section of the website is dedicated to Mia, our rescue dog who came to us in 2014 and has been part of the family for almost 10 years at the time of writing this.

She was born in a rescue home on May 2014 and we brought her home in late September that year.

That's her background in a nutshell, so let's talk a bit more about this special dog.

A Family Dog

At 10 years old, Mia is still very fit and healthy and doesn't look her age at all.

She loves going out for walks as much as curling up on a soft cushion to sleep. Like her predecessor Ronnie, she also likes to curl up in my lap while I work on the computer at my desk.

mia betty familyMia lives with us and another small dog called Betty (see her bio by following the link in her name) joined our family a couple of years later. Both dogs get along really well and have done right from the time they first met each other.

In the late evenings, Mia is happy to curl up on the sofa with us and Betty for an hour or so while we catch some TV together. That's about as much TV as I can handle, so it's usually the last thing we do at night before going to bed.

Oh, and while it tends to be discouraged, both dogs do sleep on our bed at night. As they're small, they don't take up much space and don't disturb our sleep most nights.

Going Walkies

When out and about, she is very keen to meet other people and is always friendly and excited when someone she knows bends down to pet her. This happens often on our walks locally, because there are lots of neighbours with dogs that we meet when we're out and Mia knows them all.

Mia is good with other dogs too, but can shy away from big dogs, especially if she doesn't know them. However, there are a few big dogs that she knows and will happily go up to and greet in doggie fashion.

Being rather small, she can cover a surprising amount of ground on longer walks with our other dog, Betty. It's not uncommon to make a round trip of a few kilometres in an afternoon when it's not too hot and both dogs seem to be as fresh at the end as they were at the start!

Mia in Pictures

I'll include some pictures of Mia below as she has been through the years so you can see what she's like.

This page has been a long time coming, but I'm only just now revisiting this site to build it up again, now that I have more time to devote to it. Some of the pictures have also been shared on Pinterest where I have created a new account just for dogs, which I'll link to below.
